Starbucks sells 60% of its China unit for $4 billion


American espresso chain Starbucks introduced the sale of a 60% majority stake in its China unit to non-public fairness agency Boyu Capital for $4 billion, in a deal geared toward accelerating the growth of its enterprise within the Chinese language espresso market.

Starbucks stated in a press release on Saturday morning that Boy Capital will purchase as much as 60% of its retail operations in China by way of a three way partnership.

Underneath the settlement, Starbucks will retain the remaining 40% and can proceed to license its model and mental property rights to the three way partnership.
