Why visit Riyadh
Riyadh brings together Saudi history, government, business, dining and large-scale entertainment. A well-planned visit can move from the historic centre and Diriyah to contemporary districts, museums and evening attractions without losing sight of the city’s wider desert setting.
Suggested itinerary
Begin with the National Museum area and historic central Riyadh. Use another day for Diriyah and its surrounding cultural district, allowing time for advance reservations where required. A third day can focus on modern Riyadh, major viewpoints, shopping and restaurants. Add a fourth day for seasonal events or an organised desert experience.
When to visit
Cooler months are more comfortable for walking and outdoor attractions. During summer, plan indoor visits in the middle of the day and move outdoor activities to early morning or evening.
Getting around
Riyadh is geographically large. Combine metro services, licensed taxis and ride-hailing based on the day’s route. Group nearby attractions together to reduce transfer time.
Travel notes
- Check event calendars before finalising dates.
- Reserve popular restaurants and seasonal attractions early.
- Allow extra time for cross-city journeys at peak periods.
